Support for Trump and MAGA
At the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr Nguyen verbally told the employee, "Daddy Trump is going to take care of you." Mr Nguyen sent a photo to the employee of Mr Nguyen's hand holding a large commerative coin from right-wing merchandiser whitehousegiftshop.com (not .gov), which featured the words, "President Donald J Trump Defeats COVID." The original marketing for this product contained the following description: "President Trump's energy fills not merely a room, not merely a stadium, but fills - more like occupies - a mythological space in our modern [era...] President Trump's defeat of COVID is iconic, universal, heroic [...] Like it or not, President Donald J. Trump is strong to a mythic level."
Speaks of Employees and Co-Workers as Slaves
As an executive at Big Fish Games, Mr Nguyen bragged to the author, "I own the business." He stated, "I own you" to the employee. He spoke of "owning" other employees and co-workers. He stated, "I can fire the entire HR department if I wanted to." In the author's experience, Mr Nguyen uses this language to describe professional relationships where he possesses power over others.
Retaliation Against Disability Request
In October 2020, the employee made written and verbal disclosures to Mr Nguyen about a documented disability and medical condition, requesting basic accommodations that were already in place for non-disabled employees in similar roles as standard business practice. Mr Nguyen ignored the written request, verbally reprimanded the employee in private, and refused to initiate an interactive process. He said on several occasions, "We're going to toughen you up." Mr Nguyen's conduct was a key source of charges filed by the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for violations of federal law.
Machiavellianism and Psychopathy
Mr Nguyen told the author that he was targeting two senior technical staff members in his division at Big Fish Games for termination, deriding them as "uncooperative" and "bureaucratic" for using practices and processes that are typical in the profession such as project management, prioritization, and Jira. Mr Nguyen indicated that if the author agreed with the two senior employees he would target the author for termination as well. Mr Nguyen stated that he had promoted one of the senior technicians to the position of interim director with the intention of subverting his probationary period and creating a pretext to terminate him. The employee mysteriously left the company shortly afterward. Mr Nguyen then circulated an email to several employees and senior business leaders celebrating the occasion. In the author's opinion, Mr Nguyen's conduct exemplifies Machiavellianism and corporate psychopathy. The two employees were quickly hired to senior roles at Amazon.
Mr Nguyen has bragged about his extensive professional network and has indicated that he is willing to either support or undermine employees' careers through private Linkedin messages to his associates.
